What is the world coming to???
Saturday, October 17, 2009
Yesterday I had to attend an a breakfast meeting in London. Fortunately for me I was on an early train and easily found a seat. I buried my nose in the paper for the 90 minute journey and didn't notice how packed the train had become.
After an hour or so of the journey I noticed a very pleasant aroma. I averted my gaze from the paper and cast my eyes around the commuters surrounding me. It came from a smartly dressed very well turned out middle aged woman in killer heels. She was stood in the aisle next to my seat. I glanced up and she was beautifully dressed in the well cliched black suit white blouse combination. Stone me! I thought to myself as I felt a stirring downstairs. Yes! A Tim Henman.....an unexpected semi!! I grinned back and looked out the window. About ten seconds later I glanced back and there she was smiling again. Without hesitation I decided to do the decent thing and offered her my seat with a cheeky wink. I stood up and much to the amusement of a few other male commuters she readily accepted. She glanced me up and down and smiled as she said to me "Are you standing to grow good?" With a chuckle I replied "Blimey that'll take a while." As I stood there answering a couple of text messages I couldn't help but think what did she mean? Was she having a laugh, taking the piss or being a bitch. The last 20 minutes of the journey seemed to take forever. As I got off the train a totally random bloke said to me "Mug!" As I approached the ticket barrier I stopped to get my ticket from my wallet and saw that same guy struggling to get the ticket collector. The conversation was heated and as a few more staff approached he looked back at me. At the very same moment that smartly dressed middle age woman approaches me from behind and thanked me with a peck on the cheek and gave me her card. She'd scribbled on the back for me to call her on Monday. Yesssssssseeeeeee HAPPY DAYS!!!! So what is the world coming to??? Me pulling on a train proving the age of chivalry isn't dead and as for Mug? IN YOUR FACE fare dodger!!! Next time buy a ticket!!! Mug!! where have always been handsome, thanks for the compliment Added: Tuesday, February 10, 2009 10:59am
