i've been back on the road for about a week, now. it's a lease-purchase, so i won't be making as much money, but it's a 2007 freightliner with a detroit engine, instead of the 2003 kenworth with the caterpillar motor, so i won't be spending as much on fuel (detroits get slightly better fuel mileage) and repairs (a 3 year old truck is generally in better shape than a 7 year old truck).
my first run was a short ron from oklahoma city to san antonio. i spent 2 days there, then had 2 days off. then i had a 1300 mnile run to vegas. i load in los angeles in the morning, bound hor hazelton, pennsylvania.
i only get 90 cents a mile, plus fuel surcharge, so i actually am making less money than a company driver, but because of the accident i had 2 years ago (it  was a minor accident, but the other vehicle had to be towed, making it a d.o.t. recordable accident), no companies wanted to hire me. i put in over 200 applications across the country (internet is great for that), and this was the only one that hired me.
i'll get to hazelton monday afternoon, and be layed over there until wednesday afternoon, when this delivers.
guess i'll have to start meeting all new women, since i'll be pretty much bouncing back and forth from southern california to the east coast.

long time, no blog, but...

as some of you know (it was in a previous blog), i was getting sued by a previous motor carrier for that money i didn't owe them, but i wasn't able to get to court to dispute it, so they got a judgement of garnishment for all of my income for the next 6 months. the police stormed into the broker's office with warrants, getting all of my information, and telling the broker that he cannot pay me anything until my garnishment is settled.

my broker is going to let me keep drawing my cash advances for now, but that's not enough to pay my bills with, much less feed myself anything other than peanut butter and vienna sausages.

and definitely not enough to buy rider insurance or take passengers, if that makes you feel any better.

i lost my cell phone, which doubles as my modem, so i can only get online ocasionally, until i get another one.

it seems like my broker wants me to behave... otherwise, why would he book freight to places that are out in the middle of nowhere?

like baxter, minnesota, where i'm delivering a truckload of stone in the morning.

maybe it's just as well, considering how far in the money hole i am right now.

i'm still planning to take passengers after christmas, so i should be trying to work and save, instead of play and spend.
