Hi All,
I am so bummed, I just found out today that my schooling was not approved...I some how feel that I am being discriminated against. The WIA which is a part of the CA Employment Development Department, WIA stands for Workforce Investment Act which helps older workers that have been displaced by their jobs..which I fall under. But today I was told it was not approved because there were not enough participants for the class, what the hell does that have to do with anything...the school is not run by the WIA it is a private vocational school, so it should be based on my own needs not by other means...my feeling is that I have an extensive resume and long work history and maybe they feel that I do not need additional schooling and I should be able to find a job without it. I really wanted to change careers...I cannot afford schooling on my own, even with the grants and student loans, I still needed the extra funds that the WIA would have provided. Plus they did not even let me know, here I have been waiting for so long, you would think that they could have given me a call or sent an email to advise me..I had to go into the office to find out my status because I have been waiting 9 mos...to only find out that it was denied. Any way thank you for letting me vent...everyone is always so supportive. Love you all Out of the mouth of babes
