Dogs

I just got a voicemail message tonight that I'm approved to adopt a 3 yr old creamy white chihuahua mix pup at my local shelter. I'm suppose to pick her up this saturday. I haven't figured out a name for her yet. She doesn't respond to the name that the shelter gave her but she does respond to my whistles and comes to me. I know from past experiences that dogs can distinguish various sounds and can recognize and respond to their names and various words. So I'm going to start calling her different names and see which one she responds to the most. Some of the names I have in mind are:

Girlie

Blondie

Buttercup

I like Buttercup.........Girlie doesn't do it for me.........Blondie and Dagwood...nope not that either lol

I was kind of leaning towards that name. I prefer unique original names. The name "Buttercup" came from one of my favorite movie and book "Princess Bride". I have a feeling that it's going to take a lot of patience to truly bond with her. During my brief visit with her, she seemed like she's still looking and waiting for her original owner. She seems friendly enough and healthy physically as well as personality & tempermentwise.

I'll post pix as soon as my adoption is finalized.

We'll be looking forward to seeing her.

This is my friend Perry from downundah and her Christmas card this year

She's adorable. The brooches are lovely, and that's such a cute card.

So I need some advice on dogs. I work (essentially) as a foreman on construction sites as well as inspecting homes to buy. I need a companion dog. Short haired, good tempered. Any advice?

I never recomment pit bulls. There has been too much irresponsible breeding and handling of these dogs. This doesn't mean you can't find one who is an absolute sweetheart, it just means they have suffered greatly at the hands of some soulless individuals.
