Life is a series of Journeys
Thursday, April 11, 2013

My life has been a series of Journey's. Some good and some totally awful but one way or the other I have managed to get through them.

On March 14th my life plugged into a hellish journey that I pray no one would ever have to go through. I rushed my husband, bleeding badly into the ER. For more than 24 hours I stood by as I watched him endure, almost unendurable pain and procedures to save his life. When the Dr came out of surgery I knew the news was not good. It was not. I was told he had a tumor the size of a big man's fist in his bladder. They could not remove the bladder or the tumor. He might have as little as 2 weeks to (with more procedures) a year to live before this hellish disease took him from us. The next two weeks was a roller coaster for our family of one day thinking this and then next being given hope that they could almost eradicate it altogether.

He had gone though one bought of Cancer and survived. He had been told he had less than 2 years to live and the last 18 months would be really rough. Because our insurance would not pay for the radical surgery at the two hospitals that did it close enough to us I began to research and my husband chose an alternative treatment. We used all our savings and most of his retirement but It worked and for the next 2 & 1/2 years he lived a good life. The flu and a UTI that he left go untreated, a few floating cancer cells and it exploded into life again. This time it also spread to his bones and he now had not only Stage 4 Bladder Cancer but Stage 4 Bone Cancer as well. This time there was no time or money left for Alternative treatment and he is now under going very expensive radiation and chemo treatments which our insurance will pay some for and we will figure out the rest with the help of some wonderful people we have met. So far he is doing well and I am very thankful.

In spite of the financial and physical part of it all which if we allow it, can develop into its own little worldly hell we are not just making it but we have began a different journey together, a different love for each. Some days we take teeny tiny baby steps. Some days we take no steps at all and some days we break into a run. The world is the same and yet it has changed 360 degrees. One day we laugh together, the next we cry together.  I have learned, not just because I have my own health issues, that I not only need to nurture and care for him but I also need to be nurtured and allow myself to be cared for,by our wonderful family and kind and loving friends, but also by myself. If I don't I can't be here for him when he needs it the most. Writing this blog is one of those ways so I thank you if you read it, send us your prayers if you pray and if not just send us your kind and loving thoughts.

We have had quite the life, married very young we drifted apart because of lies we were told, thirty years later we found each other again and began a new life together, and although we stayed together we drifted apart again, only to come back together once more. The song below defines our love in so many, many ways perfectly.

"When You Say Nothing At All"

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

Thank you for letting me share.

Our Blind World
Tuesday, April 9, 2013
In this country big business controls what is produced and not produced by fear and ignorance propaganda. Big pharmaceutics controls what is produced and sold of life saving medicines, procedures, etc. by fear, ignorance and propaganda. Big insurance in this country controls what health care we use, what methods we have access to in healing by fear and ignorance propaganda. In this country big finance controls our money by fear and propaganda and people believe it. In this country fear and propaganda is used by those politicians who want to continue to hold their positions of power, campaign funds and perks and many Americans blindly follow and vote for them and against their own best interest because they have been made to fear the other side by lies, deceit and propaganda.
America will never be a free nation as long as this goes on. We are controlled by these corporations and these people as long as we are ignorant and believe what they tell us and do what they tell us. While we do we continue to eat food that is not good for our bodies, take medicines that are killing us slowly, have less and less in our paychecks, healthcare, control over our own lives and our own bodies, worship under leaders of our churches who use the Bible and God to enrich themselves, molest children and suppress women and minorities.
If and until we as a people learn to be smart and do our homework, shut out their voices and make our own decisions all the above will continue, our infrastructure will continue to crumble, men and woman we have less pay and less say (destruction of the Unions) until they take our very lives from us. Not much unlike many other countries controlled by the rich, for the rich until there is nothing left but the very poor and the very rich.
Not one of the above did any of this to us. We "Allowed" it to be done to us by our own actions and we continue to allow it because our focus is so involved where we have let them direct it instead of using our own minds and intelligence to shape the lives we so desperately seek to have.

26 Random Acts of Kindness
Tuesday, January 1, 2013
After the horrific shooting in Conn, Ann Curry proposed that each and everyone of us do 26 random acts of kindness in honor of those we lost. She felt that showing love and doing this was so much better than acting on anger and hate and I do too. I would take it one step farther and say that we should each do 26 acts of kindness each and every month. That would amount to 312 Acts of Kindness by the day after Christmas 2013. Think about that! It is mind blowing! I know you might say, but I have not money to give or talent or I am disabled, etc but it does not matter. Everyone of us have something to give. It can be as simple as smiling at a stranger and saying Good Morning, holding the door for someone, letting someone pull from a side street and in front of you in a line of traffic, calling someone to day hello, sending an email to a shut in and the list goes on and on and is as diverse as all the minds that can think about it. I challenge each and every person who reads this to do this and also to post this on their page for others to see and pass on. Just think how much better our world will be if this goes round the world and everyone does it! "AWESOME!!!"

We all need to do it - VOTE!
Tuesday, November 6, 2012
I hope everyone goes to vote today. It is important and you may not think it but your life depends upon it.

This election will decide many, many things in the coming years. Things that will impact the lives of every American. How the Supreme court will be arranged, if we who can't afford it will have health care, if women are treated equally in a country that is supposed to stand for "equality for all", if we take care of those who are elderly and less fortunate, if every child is given the chance to a higher education, if we all pay a fair tax and the big, big one.....If the Middle Class in America will survive!

Personally I feel the choice is clear. The first thing to me is that I would never vote for a known and proven liar to become the President of the United States. Secondly if that same person has to hide things from the very people who's votes he covets I am suspicious. Third I am very uneasy about giving my vote to a man who wants to run our country but has all his own money stashed in banks in other countries. That tells me that he already knows our country is going to go down in flames if he wins and he wants his money where it is safe. There are many more reasons why I will not vote for Mitt Romney and that is my choice.

I have voted for a man who has proven that he cares about the American people as a whole. A man who has brought our enemies to justice and is continuing to make our country a better place for everyone and not just the top 1%. I have never in all my 63 years( and my Dad has talked to me about politics from the time I was 3) seen any President who has been called such vile names, his and his families life threatened, and smeared by those on the other side of the aisle simply because his skin was not as white as they wanted it to be and still fight every day for the people who elected him. He is not perfect and he has made mistakes as every President before him has but he has accomplished many things while swimming constantly against the current of a right wing congress who's only purpose was to keep him from serving another term. Everyone one of those men should hang their head in shame for taking one penny of pay for the days they have been in office because not one of them have done the job they were elected to do. What they have done in my eyes is not less than treason towards the country they swore to serve.

Many of you will disagree with me and that is fine. You are entitled to your opinion. I warn you before you do it not to come on my blog and make nasty, derogatory or racist remarks because I will delete them. IF you have a difference of opinion that you can post in a professional adult manner then I will leave it on the blog. I have no time for stupid and nasty.

Epic Storm
Monday, October 29, 2012
Outside the storm is slowly ramping up. As the hours past the wind has increased and the rain is coming down harder. In checking our local weather by our Long/Lat it is saying our gusts are only at 11 mph.  Not good. Not good at all since we are to have, by 8pm tonight sustained winds of 45-50 mph with gusts to 70 mph. It looks like it is going to be a long night.

Our house has trees all around it. Tall trees with abundant leaves still in place. We have supplies, we have food to eat, water to drink and will fill the bathtub with water to flush the toilet if need be. We will all no doubt be sleeping in the family room tonight. With three little ones living with us right now we have to be ready.

The kids are curious and keep asking what is going to happen when the storm gets here. I remember Hurricane Hazel as a 6 or 7 year old here in PA. It was frightening as the wind howled around the house all night long. I hope we can cuddle the kids and take some of that fear away as we get though the next 36 hours.

Our daughter and family are in Florida. Flight into Baltimore for tomorrow morning is cancelled and they are now due to arrive Wed eve late so I am hoping all is well by then as we have to travel there to pick them up. We will have to see how much flooding and damage there is in the meantime.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your families in the path of this storm. Do not take it lightly. Many have done that with other storms in the past and have not lived to tell the tale when it was over. BE prepared! BE safe! Take care of each other!
